Houston Food Scene Heating Up: New Restaurants Opening in March 2021

The Houston Food Scene is heating up this year, kicking off with a ton of new restaurant openings this March. Here is the scoop on the newest and hottest restaurants that are opening up in our area.

Common Bond On-The-Go in Garden Oaks
Common Bond On-The-Go has opened a new location in Garden Oaks, which includes a drive-thru along with a full grab-and-go menu featuring sandwiches, salads, pastries, desserts, and more.

Common Bond has even announced the opening of two more On-The-Go locations, coming to Midtown. One, will be opened as part of The Ion (Rice University’s mixed-use development) and another in the luxury highrise, Drewery Place.

New Options from Martin Weaver
All-star local chef Martin Weaver (former chef-alum of Houston Staples The Kuu and Brennan’s) is now serving up dinner at Bravery Chef Hall’s Gaggenau Kitchen. His March Menu is an “Under the Sea” theme, featuring salmon, shellfish ceviche, garlic-poached and Thai basil mussels, and more.

Clean Vegg
Clean Vegg is the new vegan ghost kitchen in the neighborhood, and it just opened up their location near the Galleria. They are serving up menu-favorites like quinoa bowls, jackfruit tacos, and classics like red beans and rice. Owner and head chef Wes McVicker is also a professional musician, having recently toured with superstars like John Legend, Usher, and Sheila E.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice
This Orlando-based frozen-favorite just opened its first Houston location on March 9th, with over 40 flavors of Italian Ice and soft serve ice cream as well. Jeremiah’s offers both indoor and outdoor seating options, and a drive-thru as well for their on-the-go fans.

The Halal Guys
The Halal Guys has just opened its sixth location in Houston, located in the 609 Main Street office tower, downtown. They are offering all of the menu-favorites that they offer at their other locations, including rice plates with gyro, chicken, falafel, and their legendary spicy sauces.

New Chick-Fil-A Location
Houston was thrilled to announce the opening of a brand new Chick-Fil-A location, which opened their doors last Monday, March 8th. As of now, they are only open for drive-thru orders, but will be incorporating third party delivery services in the near future.

To celebrate their opening, they gave prizes to 100 local heroes in the Houston area, and also donated $25,000 to Feeding America.

Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen
Sylvia’s is now open for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 10AM- 2PM, and includes breakfast classics like breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros, pancakes, and build-your-own omelets.
