Houston Farmers Market Adds Two Underbelly Hospitality Restaurants

The Houston Farmer's Market is set to reopen in 2021 and when it does, it will be home to two new Underbelly Hospitality restaurants and a Texas-based butcher's first storefront.

Details on the Underbelly concept have yet to be fully announced, but they will consist of a fast, casual concept and a full-service restaurant according to a company press release.

Bailey's Prairie, Texas-based R-C Ranch Texas Craft Beef will open R-D Ranch Texas Craft Meats. It will offer Texas Wagyu beef, choice angus beef, heritage pork, dorper lamb, goat, chicken wild game, specialty sausage, fresh-caught fish and ready-to-heat meats.

Existing vendors will include Mazano’s, Rivera’s, HST Produce and The Egg House, which is expanding its footprint to offer Everything Breakfast. Los Cavazos will operate an apothecary with infused treats and beauty products.

The 17.67-acre market was purchased by MLB Capital Partners in May 2017 from The Farmers’ Marketing Association of Houston Inc., which had owned and operated it since 1942. The new owners broke ground on renovations in August 2019

The new facility will include climate-controlled spaces, shaded open-air market areas, new restrooms, common seating areas, better parking and dedicated green spaces. Those dedicated green spaces will provide community programming, including chef demonstrations, wine tastings and local entertainment.

MLB Capital Partners plans to add more square footage to the space to host new merchants and eateries.

Houston Farmer's Market is located at 2520 Airline Dr, Houston, TX 77009.
