Gov. Abbott Pushes for Further Electric Grid Improvements
Governor Abbott has been assertive in working with utility regulators at the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) to improve the performance and stability of our electrical grid, statewide.
Abbott recognized that the state has made substantial strides in reforming Texas’s electric power market, but also pointed out that there is still more that can be done. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all residents of the state of Texas have access to affordable and reliable power. His plan includes the integration of other available, reliable power sources such as natural gas, coal, and nuclear, while also creating more reliable generators that operate off these power sources as well.
The Governor is also working on implementing a new maintenance schedule for grids and generators, to prevent too many from going offline simultaneously, much like what happened in our recent, statewide energy emergency. Governor Abbott continues to make energy reliability and availability a top priority for citizens across the state of Texas.
