Free Wi-Fi coming to Metro Vehicles

Access to Free Wi-Fi is coming soon for all riders of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County. All riders will need to access free METRO Wi-Fi to connect to “ridemetro-wifi”, enter their email address, and click to approve METRO’s terms and conditions. 

METRO will release free Wi-Fi across their public transportation system (paratransit vehicles, trains, buses, etc.) on a phased rollout schedule, over the next several months. METRO’s management team has already revealed that over 50% of their vehicles are already Wi-Fi equipped and capable. 

METRO has been working with Microsoft on expanding its WiFi service since 2019, as part of the Smart City Initiative. The pilot program was impacted and delayed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
