Barrel of Monkeys Hospitality Group Launches in Houston
Jessie Gonazles (Monkey’s Tail Owner) just launched a brand new local restaurant group called Barrel of Monkeys Hospitality.
Gonzales opened the doors of Monkey’s Tail back in 2019, and with Barrel of Monkeys Hospitality, he plans on opening several other concepts under this hospitality group, over the next few years. A new concept, Grease Monkey, he plans on opening this fall in the Oak Forest/Garden Oaks area.
Gonzales is running the group with a qualified team including his director of operations Steven Ripley (of Helen Greek, and Jonathan’s the Rub), and his beverage director Lainy Collum (Prohibition and Hay Merchant). Collum most recently worked for the global hospitality group Hakkasan group, out of San Francisco. She will be overseeing and managing the Barrel of Monkeys Hospitality restaurants’ bar programs ––– crafting and curating their signature, show-stopping cocktails.
Not only have Ripley and Collum been working on introducing a brand new slew of menu items to celebrate Monkey’s Tail second anniversary, but they are also working on building out the drink and food menu for Grease Monkey as well. The refreshed bar menu at Monkey’s Tail will include signature cocktails such as:
- The Northside
- A Dragon Fruit Margarita
- El Sabio
- Desnuda y Famosa
- Swimming Pool
- Kentucky Buck
- And a Gin Mule
They are also currently offering 15 beers on tap, an ale on nitro, and four other Monkey’s Tail signature cocktails.
Grease Monkey will have a large outdoor patio space for their guests, providing the feel of a go-to neighborhood bar. Grease Monkey will also feature popular menu items from Monkey’s Tail, including:
- The Chango Burger
- Dry-rubbed wings
- Their famous tacos
- And more
Gonzales and his staff of culinary and mixology all-stars are thrilled to bring these new concepts and flavors to the area.
