7 local events to attend in September and October

There are lots of great events coming to the Bellaire, Meyerland, and West University areas this September and October, with a ton of other options in the greater Houston Area as well. 

Limo Scavenger Hunt with The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center

Bring out your family and friends on September 11th to join The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center’s limo scavenger hunt. The Scavenger hunt is $42.50 for members, and it will kick off at 6:30 PM at Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, 5601 S. Braeswood Blvd.

New Exhibit at Moody Center for the Arts

The Moody Center for the Arts is featuring a solo exhibit from Kapwani Kiwanga on September 17th. The exhibit will feature photography, video, installations, and performance-based art as well. Kiwanga’s exhibit offers new perspectives on both the past and the present. The exhibit is free to visit, and the Moody Center for the Arts is located at 6100 Main St., Houston.

Brew at the Houston Zoo

The Houston Zoo offers craft beer, live music, activities, and the ability to see their nocturnal animals after-hours. The event is scheduled from 6-10 PM on September 24th, at 6200 Hermann Park Drive, Houston. 

Patrons must be over the age of 21 to attend. The event pass is $35, and the Texas Beer Pass is $45. For more information, visit their website at www.houstonzoo.org

Go to the Nature Discovery Centera

On October 2nd, The Hana and Arthur Ginzbarg Nature Discovery Center is offering families the fun opportunity to glimpse into the secret life of animals with what they’re calling Walk on the Wild Side. Guests and their families and friends can see lizards, birds, beautiful flowers and trees, bees and take a deeper look into wildlife.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Houston

There are various wonderful events taking place in Houston for Hispanic Heritage Month, From September 15th through October 15th. Come out to celebrate and learn about Hispanic Americans’ contributions to Houston’s history and culture.
