Harris County Department of Education Lowers 2020-2021 Tax Rate

On September 16th, the Harris County Department of Education Board of Trustees adopted a tax rate of $0.004993, a decrease from the current rate and the sixth year they have done so.  The 2019-2020 rate is $0.005.

Despite the lower rate, the department projects generating about 3% more tax revenue in the 2020-2021 period. The departments total budget is $162.4; about $25 million is generated by this tax revenue.
